Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 August 2026
This policy explains what UKVI SELT Simulator collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the mobile app and this website.
Who we are
UKVI SELT Simulator is published by ACS Co., Ltd. (エーシーエス株式会社), a company registered in Japan. ACS Co., Ltd. is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at asihan.khang@acs-kyoto.co.jp.
We are an independent practice tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to UK Visas and Immigration, the Home Office, Trinity College London or LanguageCert.
What we collect
- Account details. The email address you sign in with, and the sign-in method you chose. We use these to identify your account and to restore your purchases.
- Your practice content. The topic you build, the exam and level you select, and your practice history.
- Session audio and what we derive from it. When you sit a mock or a practice session, the app records what you say while the session is running. That audio is processed to produce your transcript, your pronunciation scores and your session report. Audio and reports are tied to your account so you can go back and review earlier sessions.
- Purchase records. Whether you hold a pass and when it expires. Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple or Google — we never see your card details.
- Basic technical data. App version, device type and error diagnostics, so we can fix crashes.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use your session audio to advertise to you.
- We do not share your recordings or reports with UKVI, the Home Office, or any exam provider. Nothing you do here reaches your real exam.
Why we are allowed to process it (UK GDPR)
- Performance of a contract. Processing your account, your practice content and your session audio is how the product delivers what you asked it for — you cannot get a spoken report without the app hearing you speak.
- Legitimate interests. Crash diagnostics and preventing abuse of the free tier.
- Consent. Microphone access is granted by you at the operating-system level and can be withdrawn at any time in your device settings. Withdrawing it stops sessions working, but does not delete anything already saved.
Who processes it for us
We use third-party providers to run the service: cloud hosting and speech processing (Microsoft Azure), and the app stores (Apple, Google) for distribution and payment. These providers act on our instructions. Some of them, and our own systems, are located outside the UK — including in Japan and in other regions where our cloud provider operates. Where data leaves the UK we rely on the safeguards our providers offer for international transfers.
How long we keep it
Your account, practice history, session audio and reports are kept while your account exists, so that the review features work. When you delete your account they are deleted with it.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account and everything attached to it from inside the app. There is no need to email us and no waiting period to request it. Full instructions are on our account deletion page.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable form. To exercise any of these, email asihan.khang@acs-kyoto.co.jp.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you told us first so we can fix it.
Children
This product is built for adults preparing for a UK visa language requirement. It is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
The waitlist on this website
If you give us your email address on this site to be told when the app launches, we use it for exactly that — one email at launch. It is not added to a newsletter and is not shared. Every email we send includes a way to remove yourself, and you can ask us to delete the address at any time.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app.
